News Update October 2009 Sadly our recent appeal for donations from club members to help fund the field project was disappointing with only one reply received from 160 letters. The committee have therefore reluctantly made the decision to scale down the project to reduce costs and will initially only create one full size and one mini pitch. This is unfortunate considering the costs incurred creating access and parking facilities which were necessary to obtain planning permission. Due to this we have provisionally arranged a short term loan which will require a full repayment within 12 - 18 months and is for an amount that will cover the immediate costs involved so as the work can be completely by mid November thus allowing us to use the facilities next season. Unfortunately to cover the repayment of this loan weekly subs will be raised to £3.00 per week. A number of fund raising events may also take place to further assist the situation and would hope for your support in making them successful. If you have any concerns regarding this matter please do not hesitate to contact the club chairman Jim McKenna, Club Secretary Paul Harris or Club Treasurer Jeanette Goodspeed. September 2009 Ludgvan Lions Junior Football Club are busy planning for the future as the clubs continued growth means they are sadly out-growing their home venue at Fairfield Park, Ludgvan. With pressure increasing on the playing spaces, parking available and traffic through the village, this season will see some of the home matches being played at alternative venues – a far from ideal situation. The committee is urgently addressing these issues by looking to create their own facilities, which thanks to local farmer Roger Noy, looks to become a reality. Planning permission has been obtained to create a four acre site consisting of one full sized pitch and two mini-pitches with extensive off-road parking. The project will progress in three stages, with stage 1 – creating car and pedestrian access, already underway. The Clubs plans to start the 2010 season with at least two of the pitches, however as the project is completely self-funded, financial restraints will govern the speed of the development. The club is currently fundraising and seeking support to ensure the facilities become a reality. Anyone interested in helping support the development of the facilities should contact Neville Goodspeed by email - nev@goodspeed8.fsnet.co.uk August 2009 We are delighted to confirm that the FIELD PROJECT (1 full size and two junior pitches) is DEFINITELY going ahead. Planning Permission has been obtained and a very constructive meeting held with the County Highways Officer. For those who are not sure, the field in question is the one immediately behind the existing main Ludgvan pitch. If all goes well, the 3 pitches will be fully usable by next summer and in addition to giving the Club much-needed extra space for matches, will also give us the ability to host tournaments. FUND RAISING will start in the next few weeks following the return to training in August (we have already raised several thousand pounds, but will need approximately twenty thousand more !) July 2009 We are giving the website an overhaul to make it more usable for the supporters and members of Ludgvan Lions. In the first stage only the top navigation buttons will be available and we will add further pages throughout the summer. Thank you for your patience!
