Apart from weekly subs and registration monies, Ludgvan
Lions has no other income. We are a self-sufficient club
run by a dedicated committee (all are parents of
players). Here are just a few examples of the things we
have to pay for throughout a season…
· Coaching
courses - cost £75 each
· C.R.B.
checks - cost £12 each
· A
Football strip - usually sponsored (however can cost
approx £500)
· Equipment
for training and matches - various costs ie a Football
is £5, a set of goals £180.
· Hire
of facilities - Approx £2000 last season.
· Trophies
- Approx £200
· Administrative
costs and stationery - approx £300 per season.

September 2007 - A message from our Fundraising
Secretary—Sue………..
Hello Again Everyone,
Yes, it’s the start of the new season already! I hope
you have all enjoyed the short break, however school
holidays can hardly be called a rest can they?!
Most of you know me already and will know that I am the
Fundraising secretary for our Club. To those of you who
are new to our Club this season, I have the “honour”
(for want of a better word!) of organising and holding
fundraising events to raise money for our Club,
especially funds towards our Field Project which is now
at an exciting stage.
This year, I am working towards holding another
Auction. Last year’s auction was the first event I had
ever organised and I was so very happy when it raised
£1400 towards our field project. People and
organisations were very generous in their donations to
auction. I am hoping this next one will be even more of
a success and that we can raise plenty of money for our
project. Of course we are seeking outside funding too,
but we have to show the funders that we, ourselves are
making an effort to contribute and help pay our way.
If you have ideas that you think we could use for
fundraising, please get in touch with me. I am always
open to new suggestions!
ALSO…….. I am hoping that our Boot Bank will “kick off”
properly this year. Last year was not much of a success
with only half a dozen pairs of boots being handed in
and only two pairs being re-homed! Now that we are all
returning to the new season, feet have grown, and I am
sure there must be many pairs of boots hanging around….
So please consider donating them to our Bank. Any
players needing boots can give a donation to the Club of
£2 per pair. I must stress that any boots donated must
be in a clean condition, as you would wish to receive
them yourself. All donations go to our Club funds and
players can get “discount” boots, which is especially
helpful when feet are having a growing spurt (3 sizes my
boys went through in a season!”) When there is more than
one player in a family it can sometimes work out quite
expensive. So please, have a look around at home, maybe
someone could make use of those boots that are just
sitting in the cupboard.
Well, that’s it for now from me… I shall be keeping you
updated through our regular newsletters.
Welcome back
to all our existing players and a big
