Club History

Founded in April 2000, Ludgvan Lions Junior Football Club is run by a small but dedicated Management team made up of the:

 Club Chairman, Club Secretary,

Treasurer, Fundraising  Secretary

Club Welfare Officer together with team managers.

Ludgvan Lions is affiliated to the Cornwall County Football Association and has F.A. Charter Standard Development Club status. We enter teams at Under 9 age group and above in the Kernow Youth League.

Ludgvan Lions are extremely proud of their achievements thus far:

  • Gaining Charter Standard status in December 2002

  • Voted Charter Standard County Club of year 2004

  • Club secretary voted Charter Standard Administrator of year 2005

  • U11/s coach (04-05) voted MacDonald's County Coach of year 2005

  • Renewal of Charter Standard status in 2005 (criteria must be upheld and is re-assessed every 3 years)

  • FA School—Club links to Ludgvan and St Just primary schools

  • Gaining Charter Standard DEVELOPMENT Club status 2007

· All our Managers and coaches hold the F.A Level One coaching qualification or are prepared to undertake it and have a minimum Junior Team Manager qualification.  We also have two qualified referees. All coaches and volunteers must complete a CRB check. The FA coaching qualifications include elements to cover Child Protection Best Practise and Emergency Aid.

The F.A “Charter Standard ” status is a “kite mark” to guide parents when choosing a club for their player. Strict criteria has to be met and must be maintained, as all Charter Standard Clubs are assessed at regular intervals. If you would like more information about the Charter Standard, please speak to us, or visit the FA website.

To aid our fundraising efforts the Club has “Community Amateur Sports Club” status with the Inland Revenue. This will allow us to use “Gift Aid” a facility I’m sure many of you are aware of these days. It means whenever a UK tax payer sponsors or donates money to our Club ie –Sponsored Walk” if they tick the gift aid box we will get an extra 28% added onto their donation at no expense to the sponsor themselves.

The Club welcomes all players  of school years 1 to 9. (Born 01.09.93 to 31.08.02) Covering all corners of West Cornwall, our membership stands at approx 140 players and we retain members at a rate of 93%, a record of which we are justly proud.

This season we will field seven teams in the Kernow Youth League in age groups Under 14,13,11,2 x 10 &  U9. For non-league players the managers will endeavor to arrange friendly matches whenever possible. This will enable every Club member to play competitive games as well as enjoy the many training facilities available at the Club. (please note F.I.F.A rules do not permit U6/s to play games)

Membership of the Club is by payment of a seasonal registration fee and weekly subscription.

We publishes a regular Newsletter to keep players and their families up to date with Club news and events. The newsletter is given to each player in paper form and is also available here. If there is anything you would like covered in the newsletter please let us know.

If you have concerns or queries at any time please feel free to speak to your player’s manager, Parent representative and / or any officer of the Club. All matters will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
